Yes I am still here, and yes I really do want to get back to blogging. Just tidying up a few minor impediments first:

Periodic episodes of numbness and pain in my hands that has the medicos perplexed. House decluttering, wallpaper stripping and new floor laying.
Mr hissychick’s new business venture.
Writer’s block.
Juggling school and preschool runs and fitting in what I can around Immyjim’s naps.

And the most piss poor excuse of all, spending time with my kidlets. They are all healthy happy and well and all exercising various ways to crush my spirit of course.

I won’t lie, for some reason trying to catch up on blogging and photos and all of that palaver makes me anxious, and so I procrastinate. However most of those of you who still check in from time to time are probably well aware that I tend to microblog on Fa(r)cebook, so if you want to keep in touch shoot me an email hissychick(at)gmail(dot)com.

To finish up, here are some not that recent pictures of my girl progeny, just to remind you of how cute they really are. Naturally they take after their mother.

Until next time, smooches. With tongue if you get the next round…

The ILs are winging their way to our place as I type for a week’s visit, and I shall welcome them with open arms. I will actually get some time to myself this week!

Luckily for you lot, this also means that I am unlikely to be blogging and you too will get a break from the boring shite that I have been serving up of late, both posts and comments. Everyone’s a winner.

Now I’m off to cuddle A, who has been trying so hard to be a well behaved girl today, and perhaps sneak another smoochy kiss from E when she wakes up.

Until next time…adieu. And stuff.

Hellloooo internets. I’m back. Miss me?

I’ll fill you in a few holiday highlights before I head back to sorting out the massive backlog of washing. How selfish of the children to need clean clothing.

Anyway.

A good time was had by all and there were no inlaw related hissyfits thrown by me (yes I know!). We all enjoyed a trip to the Werribee Zoo (highlights being the meerkats and the safari bus tour), some retail therapy and we even survived the assortment of relatives who came to marvel at the brilliance and beauty of our children. Mr hissychick and I even managed to go out to dinner. By ourselves. For the first time in almost a year. And talk about things other than the kids. I have a taste for this going out with my husband alone now, must find ways to feed it. But that’s a topic for another post.

Oh yes and then there was my friend’s wedding. We actually managed to attend both ceremony and reception and it was all rather lovely. Except for the fact that I forgot to take along the present. Oops.

E appropriately chose our holiday time to cram in a few new party tricks along with another new tooth. She now holds anything remotely resembling a phone up to her ear, or in the absence of said object, her own hand, and then says something that sounds suspiciously like ‘hell-ah’. Being the caring parents that we are, we have been getting our youngest to perform this feat for all and sundry. Dance monkey girl, dance!

Other fixations are pointing to lights and saying ‘da’ in a manner eerily akin to a member of Hillsong. She remains fixated with anything musical, enjoying a toy xylophone at her grandparent’s house and mimicking simple tunes that we hum to her. A star is born and you heard it here first folks.

E has also completely won over her Melbourne grandparents, even managing to con them into rocking her to sleep on the two nights her evil parents dared to go out and have fun by themselves*.

A positively revelled in all the extra attention, and did not watch any television whatsoever while we were away, not even her beloved Playschool. She roped her devoted Pa into many and varied imaginative games, and it was absolutely hilarious to watch my workaholic and somewhat absent minded engineer type father in law engage in endless hours of pretending to go to school with A and undertaking numerous trips to the local park when normally you can’t drag the man away from his work.

A also amused me by calling everyone by their first names (I am sure mr hissychick will elaborate on that so I’ll leave that to him). And then there was the following exchange:

A (spying her father sneaking a lolly from the pantry): Daddy, what are you eating?

Mr hissychick (guilty as sin, eyes shifting sideways): Nothing sweetheart.

A (hands on hips): Daddy, I asked you a question. What are you eating?

Mr hissychick (choking with laughter on his guilty treat): …………cough……..Where’s your Mum?

Like mother, like daughter.

And. Your. Time. Is Up.

PS And just so you know, I have at least 50 unread posts from my favourite bloggers and at least as many emails to catch up on so forgive me if I don’t pop up in your comments section/inbox for a while. I do love your work and I really have missed you. The cheque is also in the mail, and I will call you in the morning. Just kidding..

*Of course she wouldn’t take a bottle when Mummy’s boobs were not available, but that again, is another topic for another post.

Let’s get the unpleasantries out of the way first:

Thanks to the fucktard who ran into our parked car yesterday and left without the having the common decency to provide a note with your details because we weren’t there at that time. It’s always heartening to know that selfish assholes such as yourself would prefer to put a dampener on a spontaneous outing with the girls, one in which A delighted in simple things such as a 50 cent lucky dip at the local toy store, and eating a freshly baked roll while listening to the folksy stylings of a busker as we sheltered from the rain, just so you don’t have to put in a claim on your insurance. It was your fault, and now we have to pay for it. Great.

Just remember what goes around comes around mate. And that, in the spirit of the cranky old hag I am rapidly becoming, I have written a rather narky letter to our local paper, which if published, may actually lead to someone dibber dobbing on you. So nerr.

Hissy fit over.

Dear internets,

I will be (mostly) offline from tomorrow until next Tuesday as the hissychicks are off to Melbourne for a family visit and a friend’s wedding. I will miss you all dearly, as will the children when they are bewildered from all the additional attention because Mummy isn’t on the ‘puter for a change.

Take care, and enjoy your breather from all things hissy as I’ll be back with my usual nonsense (with bonus wedding and inlaw anecdotes!) next week.

Cheers

hissychick
