a) Are lucky enough to have all children currently at home taking simultaneous naps

b) Said children who go to bed at a reasonable hour so that me time isn’t in the post gym beyond fatigue zone

c) The time and ability to blog at work

d) A dongle that consistently works on the commute

e) A fancy schmancy smart phone that they are adept at typing on in those snatched alone moments in the loo

f) Weekends that aren’t crammed with the quality family time missed out on during the week and a monumental to do list of home maintenance and renovationn chores

hissychick=FAIL!

(Today’s post is brought to you by my managing to make it to my fifth week back at work before having to take time off with the runny bummed daycare reject miss I two weeks post her last gastro stay home with Daddy bug….)

All kidlets are at school and daycare so you think I would be relishing and maximising this rare bit of personal freedom before my return to work on the 28th right?

Right?

And yet here I sit, somewhat despondent, largely apathetic and unsure what to do. Wasting a precious hour or two on Fa(r)cebook and forums (albeit a very interesting, eloquently discussed and thoroughly validated by the relevant data argument for vaccination which should at least be stickied….hell it should be stamped onto the forehead of every selfish moron who chooses not to vaccinate without compelling and professionally verified medical reason).

Sigh.

Now that I have fired up the old blog again I am wondering just what purpose and direction it will take. Of course I want to post about the kidlets but I also want this little corner of cyberspace to be a little more than that.

I don’t want it to always be a dumping ground for the latest hormone induced mood swing. I’m a fan of some self reflection but I find too much naval gazing to be self indulgent. Feelings are feelings. Ephemeral and highly changeable. Most of the time I rather let the unpleasant ones wash over me and fade away. As for the poignant and tender moments of sheer joy, I’m aiming to be fully present rather than worrying about how to document them.

Still.

Let me have a think about it. Or not.

Perhaps it simply boils down to no posting under the influence of PMS unless it is a piss funny story?!

Until the next round of verbal diarrhoea

PS I’ve joined the gym. Guess that means I will have to go….

Hi there, remember me?

I know, I know, I have not been the bestest blogger of late. It’s just that I don’t do the third trimester well.

More specifically, I don’t do the sleep deprivation from flailing around in bed like a beached whale coupled with mood swings from massive hormonal surges at all.

I have been a total bogan fishwife mother of late…and the main target of my less than desirable parenting by screeching approach has been miss A. I am not trying to excuse myself, but let’s just say a totally bored and ready for school intelligent daughter with a sassy mouth combined with a less than patient equally hot headed mother is as explosive as…I don’t know…a nuclear warhead. I do not exaggerate.

Miss E has learned quickly to escape my wrath by continuing to emanate the kind of adorableness that will see her exonerated from charges relating to burning down the school, even as she stands there lit match in hand.

Bertramina is not forgotten in all of this, continuing to grow and kick and stretch and hiccup, hands up around her face as if to ward off the chaotic world she will soon enter. It is frightening to think that in around five or six weeks there will be another little person joining the hissychick family.

Guess that means I should, um, actually start washing clothes, packing hospital bags and organising a place for her to sleep, instead of buying yet another new pram and having to list several others on ebay.

Told you I was nuts.

Enough of the crazy lady rambling. Here is a belly, bits and all shot from last week to distract you from the crappy writing.

Off I go. This hastily snatched blogging time has come at the cost of a poo filled nappy to change and newspapers strewn across my entire loungeroom. And no neither of those was me. This time.

Hello. Hi.

Yes I am still here inside the computer, have just been dealing with minor things like getting ready to move, trying to sell our current house, working, parenting, not sleeping and being 22.5 weeks pregnant.

Pathetic excuses really.

Anyway the lovely Ave has tagged me for a stuff and nonsense post, and seeing as that is all I am capable of right now here goes:

What is your current obsession? Maintaining the house in a reasonable state for potential buyers to inspect while keeping the kidlets happy (read: total nightmare), finding the next MCN alternative for miss A who shows no signs of staying dry at night just yet, working out the best pram for when number three arrives (and I already own a few-ahem).

What are you wearing today? Fat chick Maternity jeans and top.

What’s for dinner? My homemade lasagne was thoroughly enjoyed by all here at chez hissychick. THOROUGHLY ENJOYED you hear me?

What’s the last thing you bought? I can’t remember the last time I bought a non food related item. How sad is that?

What are you listening to right now? E singing to herself in bed as she refuses to go to sleep. The washing machine as it finishes up a load of nappies. Mr hissychick typing away on his computer. I have blocked out the freaking football on the TV.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
Other than uninterrupted sleepy bye bye land? Paris. Always dreamed of going there, unlikely to afford it until I have blue or pink hair and an artificial hip.

Which language do you want to learn?
I’d love to brush up on my French. Six years of schooling and the best I can manage is to teach the girls Frere Jaqcues and how much is that doggy in the window…

What do you love most about where you currently live?
That we are moving….no it is lovely to be in an area of breathtaking natural beauty, small enough to feel a sense of community for the kids and free of the real estate based snobbery of Sydney (yet still close enough to commute for work there).

What is your favourite colour? Seeing as black is technically not a colour…blue.

What is your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe?
Dumb question to ask a preggo chick!

Describe your personal style?
See above.

If you had $300 now, what would you spend it on?
I am going to assume that this would be to spend on me me me so I will say a pregnancy pamper at a day spa. In reality the money would be put towards a new car seat or a lay buy of presents for the upcoming Christmas at which I will be the pudding.

What are you going to do after this?
Hang out nappies, shower and go to bed. Wild times.

What are your favourite films?
These type of questions really stress me out because I never remember when put on the spot. OK a few that come to mind….Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the Trois Couleurs trilogy….also enjoyed Lars and the Real Girl, Little Miss Sunshine…there is no one genre. However as husband and friends will attest I am a nightmare to watch films with as I simply can’t sit there and focus on the screen for that length of time so it has to be special.

Do you collect anything? I must as there seems to be an awful lot of crap to pack up for the big move of 2009.

What makes you follow a blog?
Good writing, a quirky sense of humour, a sense that there is an interesting person behind the text on the screen. Also helps if they are also in the parenting trenches alongside me.

Do you like to comment on blogs or just lurk?
By nature I am a lurker not a commenter…but I’ve made some wonderful friends inside the computer who have drawn me out of my hidey hole. Smooches to you all.

What’s one thing you dream of doing?
Sleeping for a minimum of eight hours straight every night for a year. Completing a PhD once I can figure out exactly what subject matter I could be passionate about and focused on for a three year plus period of my life.

What is your biggest regret?
In the infamous words of Edith Piath “Non, je ne regrette rien”. Of course we all have regrets but this is a question best left to my exit interview.

What is your favourite thing to do on a rainy day?
Snuggles, reading, comfort food and cuppas, opening all the windows to enjoy the scent of eucalyptus when the rain has ceased.

Do you have a tattoo?
I leave that to mr hissychick

What are you favourite books?
Arrghh the pressure! The Time Traveller’s Wife, Catcher in the Rye, Scepticism Inc..all books leave their mark and I do love my reading. Something interesting I have noted is how many peoples have remarked on their love of Anne of Green Gables, you can include me in that little clique.

Describe your ideal holiday…
One where I am not troubled by domestic drudgery, where sleep is a right and not a luxury, where the kids are relaxed and happy and where there is no time wasted commuting and the weather, food and location is amenable. I am quite happy for the lotto gods to smile upon me so I can traipse around the planet in search of suitable locations over extended periods of time.

Anyway I think most of those who know of this little meme have already been tagged so I will just nag mr hissychick who has been even more tardy on the blog front than me……

You are awaiting your latest fix of she who is hissychick. Pick your preferred post topic and style from the following:

A: A short snappy post about something ludicrously funny from the world of parenting a threenager and a toddler, that may or may not include quotes from eldest daughter and/or photos of both girls which may ruin any future political aspirations they may hold, or at least be a source of great amusement at their respective 21sts;

B: A well thought out and tenderly written milestone post, reflecting on the latest achievements of either or both girls- including sentimental ponderings about the fact that the last baby in this household (probably) is now in her own room- and revealing yet again that ms hissychick has a rather tender Hallmark side;

C: A bluntly honest post in which a still sickly hissychick whines about how she has completely dropped the bundle due to ongoing illness and exhaustion, yet again questions her mothering abilities and wants a magical fairy to step in, clean up the dishes, dress the kids who are still in their jarmies and still watching TV at 11 am and make it all better.

D: None of the above. I’m not talking to you ms hissychick because you haven’t been commenting on my blog nor replying to your own comments, you slack tart you.

It’s over to you to decide. And I’m talking to you! yes! you! look at me! i need your attention! look at me! look at meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee………………..
