Presenting the next generation of internerds
By hissychick | May 27, 2008
My little treasures won’t sleep or leave me the fuck alone for three nanoseconds these days are both showing an interest in the wonder that is the internets. Being little’uns they both have certain things that they want to watch repeatedly and I thought I would share their current favourites with you.
First up we have little miss E’s fixation with e-cards, and this Flower Shop one is in high rotation at the moment. Especially if she is being her usual challenging self at meal times. I pop this one on, she watches from her high chair and I can actually get some food into her without her noticing. I have no idea what is so special about this particular card, but somehow both music and animation please her greatly. She da-da-da’s along with the tune, and excitedly points out the “la” (light), “door” and “puss ca” (cat)….and always ends her viewing with a big “yay” and round of applause, followed by “gin?” (again?).
I swear, she would kiss the screen if she could reach it. I did mention that she gives kisses if you ask her nicely didn’t I *swoon*? She is so gorgeous…especially when she is asleep. Which is not often as she has just cut tooth number seven, eight is almost through and she is in that I will just let go and try a step, no I won’t phase at the moment. I think we’ll keep her despite the crappy sleep.
Moving on.
A has discovered the delights of YouTube, and so have I. I’ve had about enough of Justine Clark et al of late, so I was decidedly pleased to stumble across They Might be Giant’s foray into the world of kiddie entertainment. Below is one of our favourite tunes, which A loves to sing with gusto. She is so cute when she does it I momentarily forget the night waking, threenager attitude and growing sense of concern I have about her social interaction skills of late (that’s another post right there folks).
Now try and get this song out of your head. Just try.I’m off to stare into space for five minutes… Oh yes! Will present new marital quiz on Friday! If I actually get back on the ‘puter by then! Zzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!
ETA: You may have noticed this post appearing and then disappearing off my site along with some really wierd formatting. For some reason trying to embed the YouTube clip directly into my post sends the whole thing into a meltdown…even though the preview version of my post is fine. Will have to ask mr hissychick for some nerdy techo tips tonight, unless anyone out there can enlighten me..

I think You Tube and the internet has sure saved us alot of money - on medical bills to cure our sanity.
