Legs eleven

By hissychick | May 18, 2008

Miss E, you would have to be the most deliciously adorable second child in the universe.  The way you crawl over for a cuddle- complete with an expressionate ahhhhh and accompanied by a gentle side to side shake of your head against my cheek.  Your burgeoning vocabulary, including buh bye and nuga (your beloved Snugzee). Your obvious love for your big sister, and your delight in kids in general.

The fact that we are still breastfeeding, tooth number six popped through ( 4 up two below), we dropped a feed and we’ve settled into a three per day plus a dreamfeed pattern that I hope we can continue for at least another month. There is nothing quite like our special time, watching the bliss on your face as you feed to sleep, gently stroking the silken ears of Nuga as you feed. The way you pop off the boob between sides, sticking your tongue out and doing a ‘Whaat’sup?!’ kind of noise. A game you like to repeat at random intervals during the day, always eliciting a laugh from all members of your devoted family.

You have finally developed an interest in books, with “Where’s the Green Sheep?” being your favourite. You will actually listen to this one rather than try to literally devour its pages, as has been the sorry fate of so many supposedly indestructible board books in our house.

All things musical excite and engage you, you try to hum/’sing’ little tunes that take your fancy, and you are still obsessed with the keyboard and drums on your sister’s preschool desk.  Muzak in the supermarket always gets you going, and you will bop along in the trolley much to the amusement of other customers.

Your foray into the world of food continues to be interesting….in that if it’s not yoghurt, banana, vegemite toast, an arrowroot biscuit or a gourmet sausage from our local butcher then it is clearly poison and must be spat out.  As an added bonus you are also a fussy drinker and still mostly play with a water cup. You have mastered spouts, straws and open cups…you just spit out the water inside.

Then again, why waste time eating and drinking when you are trying to master the art of walking? You happily push along a support walker toy (the good old Stride to Ride)-stopping only to start the music again so you can take a bopping break- and at other times you creep along the hallway using the walls as fingertip support.  I think it’s fairly safe to say that you will probably take your steps before your first birthday. Clever clogs.

Little miss E, as I type these  words you are safely snuggled in your cot in our room (yes-still!) and happily asleep. I hope you are dreaming of all that is sweet and innocent and hopeful and good, because that is what you are. I love you with a passion that words cannot adequately describe and I know that I’m not alone in this.

Happy eleven months my darling second born.

  7. Beautiful.

    Happy 11th Month, E!

You know, I tell my boys they are precious when they are falling asleep. Now, my almost 4 will sometimes say it back to me when he is snuggling into bed, “Mommy, you know, you’re precious.”
