Don’t leave me for a nanosecond
By hissychick | March 3, 2008
My two girls are particularly clingy today, each with their own equally valid reason for wanting mummy’s undivided attention. Well from their perspective anyway.
E has hit the separation anxiety phase that pops up around the nine month mark, meaning that I am not to be out of her field of vision. Ever. Sleep is not high on her list of priorities either. And while we’re at it, she is going through the worst period of distracted breastfeeding. Unless we are in our bedroom with the door closed and I am absolutely silent she refuses to feed. Even if she hasn’t had anything for six hours. Egads.
A simply wants me to play with her. All. The. Time. Forget the concept of having to wait for anything either. She simply does not get it, and just keeps whining even if I have said yes. Look at me is her phrase du jour.
Don’t get me wrong, my little treasures are adorable and healthy. All I would like is five seconds alone so I can go to the bathroom in private. Especially when I have my period. I do not need E to be wailing as I wee, with A constantly asking if she can have a look. Charming.
Off I go, this post has been written in spurts as A constantly interrupts with her running commentary on the playdough I attempted to distract her with and E whinges about the meaninglessness of existence. And that folks, is why I haven’t yet written my post about my illustrious career to date as a published author. Or put on the washing. Or started to prepare lunch. Or anything else really. It is so damn frustrating.
Soon. I promise.

I know what you mean about wanting time alone. Or to get out of the grasp of your kids esp when there are tons of chores to be done!
Hope when hubby comes back, he can at least entertain them and you can do your own stuff!

Posted by: Ann on March 3rd, 2008 at 11:12 pmOur kids are always precious, but when they expect us to be God, ever present and hold the whole universe in running, then we start pulling out our hair.
I know exactly what you’re going through.
Better days are just waiting to happen. Hang in there.
