11 weeks 4 days Hmmm…I thought I had posted an update after my OB appointment but obviously not! Hello baby brain…. Well for the last week and a half I have been suffering from nervous nellie syndrome. The Ob appointment went well (although there is nothing very dignified about plonking a jar of wee on the counter and then yelling out your weight in front of everyone now is there? For the record I was 74.9 kg..eek, but that is only about 1kg over my normal weight and not too bad for someone who is 180 cm tall). Anyway where was I? My Ob is quite nice, an older bloke and pretty much to the point. Unfortunately we couldn’t hear bubs heartbeat with the doppler but apparently that is normal at this early stage. I asked for an NT referral which I was given, but he is pretty against the things. He seems to be very pro active birth, which sounds pretty good to me at this naive stage but when I asked if i could have an epidural if i was desperate for one he said it would be no problem. He reckons the best approach is to be open minded so I am pretty happy with that. Now i just have to go and get the book he recommended..(Active birth or something like that). Other than that it was see you in 4 weeks (my BP was 110/60, pretty bloody good given that it got up to 150/110 a couple of years back)…..it is hard to adjust to the whole low risk/low intervention gig let me tell you. Bugger- dinner is ready. Will have to continue this long tale later (yes it involves a spotting scare but has a happy ending with a normal scan)…
